Meet The Upcoming Magician of Sitar : Bhagirath Bhatt



In the generation where people are adopting western culture, in the generation of guitar, Bhagirath Bhatt took a different path and chose to play sitar. Once a child prodigy, Bhagirath Bhatt is definitely the upcoming magician of the sitar.


Bhagirath Bhatt born on 31/05/1991 is a music composer and sitar player. He is 29 years old now and lives in Surat, Gujarat. The 29-year-old sitarist is a very successful and well-known sitarist. Bhagirath has been learning since a very tender age and is a very hardworking and dedicated person. And because of this quality, he is a well-established musician now.

Early Life

Bhagirath Bhatt was born in the city of Jamnagar, Gujarat to Pankajkumar Bhatt on 31st March 1991.  The 29-year-old was trained in vocals and tabla by his father, who is also a musician till the age of 8. From the age of 8 to 13 he was coached by Shree Chetan Bhai Shashtri in Jamnagar itself.

When he turned 13, Bhagirath moved to Mumbai for horning art under Ustad Abdul Halim Jafer till the age of 17. Since then he has continued enhancing his skills since then under Ustad Asad Khan Ji of Mewati Gharana.


After 15 long years of learning and playing sitar, Bhagirath is a successful sitarist.

He is a well-known sitarist and has done live shows all around the world. He has played sitar in many Bollywood, South Indian, and Gujarati Movies.

Bhagirath also has the merit of working with legendary Music Director A.R Rahman, Amit Trivedi, Shankar Mahadevan etc.

Live Shows

The sitarist has done live shows all around the world. The list of countries where he has done shows is long, some of them are the USA, UK, Russia, Canada, UAE, Singapore, etc.


  • He is a graded radio artist
  • Approved Artist of ICCR
  • He has played for a few Bollywood movies like Padmaavat, Robot 2.0, and many more South Indian and Gujarati Films.
  • Bhagirath has worked for AR Rahman, Amit Trivedi, Sonu Nigam, Alka Yagnik, Shreya Ghosal, PT. Enjoy Chakraborty,  Suresh Wadkar, Hariharan Ji, and many more.
  • He was the winner of the All India National Youth Fest 2009 competition.
