20 bodies recovered from landslip site in Kerala

After a heavy rainfall a landslide occured at Rajamalai in Idukki district.

At least 20 bodies have been recovered so far. This flattened a row of 20 houses of tea estate workers.It happened in the high range Idukki district in Kerala. The rainfall however still continues. But rescue operations are happening now despite rain.Two teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have initiated search and rescue operations on Saturday morning.

There are confusions regarding the number of people present during the mishap. Few bodies were recovered friday night. After that today it is continuing. As per records 46 people are still missing. 12 were rescued on Friday and are receiving treatment.

It fell on the “row houses”. Two children and five women were among the deceased. Most of the victims were plantation workers from neighbouring Tamil Nadu.

The four-month-long Southwest monsoon season began in June first week.Kerala has reported a total of 51 deaths till Thursday night due to various calamities that have affected the state.Meanwhile, the weatherman on Saturday issued a red alert for few districts in the state.The state is having a very rough weather.
