Cinema halls reopen in many states today

Cinema halls set to reopen in many states from October 15 as part of the Centre’s ‘Unlock 5.0’ guidelines.  This after seven long months as movie theatres in the country closed since March due to the coronavirus pandemic. To reopen in following states. West Bengal, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka from today. However, they remain closed in states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Maharashtra as no guidelines have been issued yet. Social distancing followed. Only sterilised food permitted.

Individuals who are going to watch a movie on the big screen today have to follow several rules in line with Covid-19 safety precautions. All cinema halls observe 50 per cent occupancy, maintain staggered show timings and follow social distancing protocols to prevent moviegoers. Thermal screening, protection gear like PPE kits for staff and compulsory providing of phone numbers for contact tracing also among changes to be followed.

Cinema halls promote the use of digital payment systems and payment counters increased. Frequent sanitation protocols also followed. Cinema halls also expected to play advertisements on Covid-19 safety norms before the start of a movie.

Inside the hall, there will be floor and seat markers to help individuals adhere to social distancing norms. Masks are mandatory. Proper ventilation and air conditioner temperature above 23 degrees Celsius also maintained.

However there are no new releases at the moment, some films like late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s Chhichoore re-released on the big screen.
