A compounder of a tea garden hospital in Assam’s Dibrugarh district arrested. This for wrongly declaring a two month-old baby dead. The infant later woke up during his burial preparations at his home. However the baby died a few hours later.
This happened at Muttuck Tea Estate in Dibrugarh. The boy brought to the garden hospital by his parents at noon. However no doctor or nurses present at that time. So Gautam Mitra, the compounder, checked the child and declared him dead. The distraught parents, workers at the tea estate, brought the infant home and started preparing for his last rites. However he started moving in his mother’s lap. So once again taken to the garden hospital from where he shifted to the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) where sadly declared dead on arrival.
