The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway reopened. This happened today. It had remained closed for the past two days. Because of the multiple landslides that followed heavy rain.
The highway blocked several places. This is between Udhampur and Banihal. Several vehicles stuck stranded.
The highway cleared for one-way traffic . Was done at 10 am. Therefore after clearance of the stranded vehicles, the traffic passed.
Heavy rains in wide parts of Jammu and Kashmir over the past two days. This triggering landslides and shooting stones from hillocks. The highway at Panthiyal, Battery Cheshma, Monkey Morh, Mehar, Chanderkote, Sherbibi, Moum Passi, Ramsoo, Digdole, Kela Morh, Maroog and Trishul Morh were the most affected.
Efforts done for the road clearance. Since the traffic caused was very much hectic. Therefore a lot of time taken to clear things.
Passenger vehicles and trucks carrying essential commodities to Kashmir were cleared on priority. This was after reasonable maintenance.
Currently the traffic is moving smoothly.By non traffic from Kashmir towards Jammu is expected.
