TN government decides about reopening school for other classes




The state School Education Minister KA Sengottaiyan said that the decision to reopen schools from class 1 to 9 and class 11 taken later. This also done in a phased manner, the minister added, speaking to the media.

Sengottaiyan said that as schools reopen from class 10 and 12, precautionary measures taken as per the Health Department guidelines. Ninety seven percent of the parents consulted had said they favoured reopening of schools. The state government directed schools to have consultation sessions with parents from January 6 to 8. This ahead of board exams of class 10 and 12 students.

State board students also have reduced syllabus, and the details of the same sent to the Chief Education Officers on Wednesday. Therefore the timetable for the public exams also be released.

Tamil Nadu’s schools shut since the end of March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Board exams conducted, however, students of all other classes automatically promoted to the next standard.
