Tamil Nadu to provide 2GB data free to college students




Tamil Nadu Government planned to provide 2 GB free data per day to college students. This from January 2021 to April 2021. In order to enable the students as colleges remain closed and largely depended on online teaching, the government announced the plan to provide free data package for students. As many as 9.69 lakh students benefit from the scheme.

Students enrolled in government and government aided arts and science colleges, polytechnic colleges, engineering colleges as well as scholarship funded private colleges eligible for the scheme. Under the same, a 2 GB per day limit applicable for the first four months of the year.

Colleges in Tamil Nadu reopened from December 2, 2020 for final year post-graduate students. Medical Colleges for both undergraduate and postgraduate students also reopened from December 7. As per the notice, the college for final year undergraduate degree courses begin from February 1, 2021.

Even though colleges reopened, the attendance remains voluntary. Online and hybrid classes continuing in the state. The move ensures that students have access to online content and classes as well.
