New Zealand marked 100 days without a domestic transmission of the coronavirus on Sunday.
New Zealand’s successful fight against COVID-19 has made it one of the safest places in the world right now. People there have returned to normal life. However authorities are concerned that people are now refusing testing. They are not using the government contact tracing apps and have started ignoring basic hygiene rules.
Achieving 100 days of something like this is a milestone. The number of cases are increasing inall other countries. The virus can re emerge very quickly.
Vietnam has gone for three months without detecting any domestic transmission. It is now racing to control a new outbreak in Danang. Several across the world are quarantining and are under lockdown.
There have been cases of people sneaking out of quarantine, and not following rules. But the still action are taken to keep things under control.
Other countries are also aiming at achieving something like this.
