Work in public sector for at least 10 years or pay Rs 1 crore, UP govt tells PG medical students

Uttar Pradesh announced that post-graduate medical students in the state must complete at least 10 years’ in the government sector. This upon completion of their studies. Failure to complete the full 10 years will result in a fine of Rs 1 crore.

The announcement made by Principal Secretary (Health), UP, Amit Mohan Prasad on Saturday. Declared that if PG medical students in the state drop out of the government job before completing 10 years, they will be fined Rs 1 crore. Amit Mohan Prasad also said that such students debarred from the course for the next three years.

According to reports, this decision by the Uttar Pradesh government taken to deal with the shortage of specialist doctors. This in state-run hospitals and medical establishments. The Uttar Pradesh Principal Secretary (Health) also said that over 15,000 posts created for doctors in state-run hospitals across UP. As many as 11,000 MBBS doctors currently occupying these posts.

The state government also said that MBBS doctors employed in rural government hospital. This for at least a year willing will get concessions in the in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) PG exam. Similarly, those with two years of experience in a rural government hospital get a 20-point rebate in the NEET exam. Those with three years of experience get a rebate of 30 points.
