UK protests over a bill

In United Kingdom, people are opposing the new legislation introduced in the British Parliament. This legislation is called the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill, 2021. This protests is named as “Kill the Bill” protest.

If this bill becomes enforceable, then the police will gain more power to suppress the protesters. That is, it will provide clarity on forbidden conducts such as producing smells or noise, dangerous behaviour in public (like hanging from bridges).

Further, it can imprison a person upto 10 years for non-cooperation. If Anyone refuses to follow police directions about a protest could be fined up to 2,500 pounds under the law. Former Labour Party Leader Jeremy Corbyn said, “Stand up for the right to protest, stand up for the right to have your voice heard”.
